FX Simulation Services
Physics is the starting point; art direction decides the final result.
FX simulation produces dynamic phenomena — fire, smoke, water, debris, cloth and particles — using solvers driven by physical rules. At Fuke's Media LLP, fx simulation services sits inside a single end-to-end visual production pipeline, so the same team that plans a shot can also finish it — no handoffs between disconnected vendors, no version drift, no surprises in the final conform.
Practical effects carry risk, cost and irreversibility; simulation can be re-run and re-timed until the note is answered. That is why production houses, OTT commissioners, agencies and brands bring this scope to a specialist partner instead of absorbing it in-house: dedicated artists, predictable turnaround, and a review loop that keeps the director in control of every frame.
We art-direct simulations with control fields and shaping forces rather than accepting the raw solver output. Every project starts with a technical breakdown — plate audit, colour pipeline, resolution and frame-rate targets, delivery specs — before a single artist is assigned. Shots are tracked individually through 5 production stages, and each stage has a named owner and an approval gate.
Every sim is reviewed at full speed against the plate for scale cues, timing and interaction with real elements. Deliverables leave the studio only after an internal QC pass covering Simulation caches (VDB/Alembic), Rendered FX passes, Houdini scene files and any client-specific delivery template. Where a project needs it, we work directly inside the client's own naming convention, folder structure and review platform.
Physics is the starting point; art direction decides the final result. Whether the scope is a handful of hero shots or a full-season episodic volume, the workflow scales the same way — the same pipeline, the same QC, the same single point of contact from bid to final delivery.
Effect design: Reference, scale study and a technical approach per effect.
Low-res iteration: Fast previews for timing and shape approval.
High-res simulation: Final-resolution solves with detail passes.
Rendering: Volume and particle rendering with motion blur.
Comp integration: Interactive light, atmosphere and grain matched to the plate.
Use case: Fire, smoke and explosions
Use case: Water, ocean and rain
Use case: Building and vehicle destruction
Use case: Cloth, sand and magical effects
Deliverables: Simulation caches (VDB/Alembic); Rendered FX passes; Houdini scene files; Comped final shots.
How many iterations are typical? Low-res previews iterate daily; final-resolution solves are locked after shape and timing approval.
Can you match practical effects shot on set? Yes — extending or augmenting practical elements is usually the most convincing route.
Do you deliver caches for our own renderer? Yes, VDB and Alembic caches are a standard delivery option.
