Set Extension Services

The audience should never find the line where the build stops.

Set extension continues a partially built physical set into a complete environment using CG geometry, projections and matte paintings. At Fuke's Media LLP, set extension services sits inside a single end-to-end visual production pipeline, so the same team that plans a shot can also finish it — no handoffs between disconnected vendors, no version drift, no surprises in the final conform.

Building a full period street or a skyline costs more than a partial build plus a digital extension — every time. That is why production houses, OTT commissioners, agencies and brands bring this scope to a specialist partner instead of absorbing it in-house: dedicated artists, predictable turnaround, and a review loop that keeps the director in control of every frame.

We match the practical build's materials, lens behaviour and light direction before adding a single new structure. Every project starts with a technical breakdown — plate audit, colour pipeline, resolution and frame-rate targets, delivery specs — before a single artist is assigned. Shots are tracked individually through 5 production stages, and each stage has a named owner and an approval gate.

Extensions are reviewed with the camera move played through, checking parallax, atmosphere and horizon continuity. Deliverables leave the studio only after an internal QC pass covering Comped extension shots, 3D extension scenes, Matte painting layers and any client-specific delivery template. Where a project needs it, we work directly inside the client's own naming convention, folder structure and review platform.

The audience should never find the line where the build stops. Whether the scope is a handful of hero shots or a full-season episodic volume, the workflow scales the same way — the same pipeline, the same QC, the same single point of contact from bid to final delivery.

Survey & solve: Camera track and on-set measurements reconstructed in 3D.

Layout: Extension geometry blocked against the practical build.

Detail & texture: Architecture, dressing and matte-painted distance.

Lighting match: Light direction, atmosphere and time-of-day matched.

Comp: Seam blending, grain and lens treatment.

Use case: Period street and city extensions

Use case: Stadium and crowd environments

Use case: Interior architecture completion

Use case: Sky and skyline replacement

Deliverables: Comped extension shots; 3D extension scenes; Matte painting layers.

What do you need from set? A camera track, measurements or a lidar/photogrammetry scan, and lighting reference stills.

Can extensions handle big camera moves? Yes — heavy parallax pushes the work toward full CG geometry rather than projections, which we scope up front.

Can this be done for a real-time LED volume? Yes, we build the same environments as real-time Unreal scenes.
