Rotoscopy Services
Roto is measured by the edges nobody notices.
Rotoscopy is the manual isolation of elements from a plate, frame by frame, when no key or automated matte can hold up. At Fuke's Media LLP, rotoscopy services sits inside a single end-to-end visual production pipeline, so the same team that plans a shot can also finish it — no handoffs between disconnected vendors, no version drift, no surprises in the final conform.
Roto volume is the single biggest hidden cost in a VFX schedule, and bad roto contaminates every downstream department. That is why production houses, OTT commissioners, agencies and brands bring this scope to a specialist partner instead of absorbing it in-house: dedicated artists, predictable turnaround, and a review loop that keeps the director in control of every frame.
We assign shots by difficulty band and keep the same artist on a character across a sequence so edge behaviour stays consistent. Every project starts with a technical breakdown — plate audit, colour pipeline, resolution and frame-rate targets, delivery specs — before a single artist is assigned. Shots are tracked individually through 4 production stages, and each stage has a named owner and an approval gate.
Mattes are reviewed over checkerboard, over the final background, and at 200% on motion-blurred frames. Deliverables leave the studio only after an internal QC pass covering Matte sequences (EXR/PNG), Nuke or Silhouette shape files, Per-shot QC notes and any client-specific delivery template. Where a project needs it, we work directly inside the client's own naming convention, folder structure and review platform.
Roto is measured by the edges nobody notices. Whether the scope is a handful of hero shots or a full-season episodic volume, the workflow scales the same way — the same pipeline, the same QC, the same single point of contact from bid to final delivery.
Shot triage: Difficulty grading and matte-part planning per shot.
Key-frame roto: Structural shapes on hold frames before in-betweens.
Motion blur & detail: Hair, blur and semi-transparency handled as separate matte parts.
QC: Edge review against plate and background, then delivery.
Use case: Character isolation for grading
Use case: Matte prep for compositing
Use case: Element separation for stereo conversion
Use case: Beauty and cosmetic work
Deliverables: Matte sequences (EXR/PNG); Nuke or Silhouette shape files; Per-shot QC notes.
How is roto priced? Per shot, based on frame count, number of matte parts and edge complexity — never a flat per-frame rate that ignores difficulty.
What is your turnaround on volume roto? We scale artist count to the schedule; multi-hundred-shot volumes are routinely delivered in weekly batches.
Do you deliver shapes or rendered mattes? Both. Shape files let your comp team adjust the matte downstream.
